Intro to Mahjong

beginner mahjong players: it’s your time to shine.

join us for a night of introductory hong kong mahjong — in partnership with the incredible nonprofit that is Welcome to Chinatown 🀄️🀄️🀄️

the night will begin with a dedicated 1-hour mahjong lesson taught in groups of six. your gtsc teacher will run you through the complete basics of Hong Kong mahjong — from terminology to tile recognition and core game constructs, before real-time instructing you through an open hand game.

then, stay to exercise your new playing chops until we get kicked out at 10 pm. snacks & drinks available for purchase 💫

plus, @spicymakemecry will be onsite selling southern thai hat yai style fried chicken, a vegetarian version with fried king oyster mushrooms, coconut sticky rice waffles, and homemade thai iced tea!

this event is a fundraiser benefitting Welcome to Chinatown. 30% all ticket sales are donated to their Small Business Innovation Hub, which provides programming, technical assistance, and pathways to long-term sustainability to small businesses just like gtsc 💚
